forged by your pain and your tears.

speak, even if your voice is silent.
imagine fear removed,
then all observations were possibilities.
creation cries out to hear
what you become.
time halts.
sanctioning you to utter
what’s on the inside of you.
sounds spill out in cacophony.
nevertheless to the trees, the earth, the sky
it is a symphony.

speak, even if your voice is silent.
composition isn’t what matters
give leave to your tidings,
exchange your view
for the lyrics that spill out.

speak, even if your voice is silent.
now, rest, in the knowing
these declarations
departing from your lips
were always meant to be.

can i paint my soul clean?

fling to the wind colours
of depth and warmth
that only amber’s hue can do?

brush away confusion with
the coolness of azure blue?

drizzle zinc white on top of
the dismal days that run long,
bringing light and life.

let strokes of burnt umber
applied to temples that
clenched jaws make pulsate

slowly add in the shades of the rainbow to
eradicate longings left unattended by years of weariness

an easel, a canvas,
a soul, a life,
ready for the newness
a fresh coat of paint offers.

I love the play of shadows and light. When the f

I love the play of shadows and light.

When the first burst of morning light pours effortlessly into the world drenching anything in its path with a golden hue.
It makes all thing’s beautiful.

Then as the sun rises to her fullness every little or big thing is bathed in her bright light. Whitewashed with her power.
Almost overwhelming everything she touches.

The golden hour then happens with ease as the sun settles in the western horizon. Casting the beautiful golden haze over the earth and all its inhabitants. Creating shadows and play with her mere glow.

To capture these times I pay homage to her fearlessness and my canvas becomes a place to honour her. With paint my expression of her lays bare my soul.

This past month of rest, peace, stillness, listening, quiet, His presence, heaven on earth has been restoring. My body, my soul and my spirit are refreshed with His goodness and light.
Not without challenges but a consecrated effort to enter into His presence and receive all that He has for me as His daughter has allowed space for His love to transform.

I relish these times. I am thankful.

the last of hope plucked out

thou hast plucked out my last hope,
by ways of reckless deeds.
meant by the doer of such deeds to crush.
but crush me not my will.
for i am made of stronger stock
coursing through my veins are
the thunderous roar of salty waves.
lifting my body, my mind
in symphony with nature.
the sun is my helmet
glowing with rays to blind distress.
my feet are shod with sand
allowing me to glide across the surface
to avoid a stumble.
warm breezes encapsulate
my being from
which harm has no access.
thus finding my place
of refuge.

the sea affords my restoration.

i am anchored.
i am safe.
i am home.
home is nature.
nature is created.
created by my creator.

Catch my fire

Embers

There’s a little place in me,
That I don’t give away.
It’s a piece of me I reserve.
A piece of quiet respite.
A silence for restoration.
The sun shines on it.
And it’s warmth heals
that very part of me.
Although I am on my own,
I am not lonely.
It’s in my heart to start again.
To be the better version of me.
Life hasn’t gone on without me.
It hasn’t given me something
I didn’t already have.
Holding on tight
to the first burst of light.
I ride the wave
to the other side of me.
Turning my slow burn
into a raging fire.
Stay close, don’t stray,
you can catch the embers
of my fire slowing fading,
helping you to burn.

my homeschooled granddaughters, grace(16) and garn

my homeschooled granddaughters, grace(16) and garnet(12) are studying Raphael.
an italian high renaissance painter from 1500’s.
along with da vinci and michelangelo they formed what was considered the
great trinity of master painters in this period.

they girls shared this time with me and we talked about this particular
painting ‘young woman with a unicorn.’
he was motivated by the mona lisa by da vinci to paint this young woman.

i was inspired by his zeal to paint like one of his close painting companions.

so this is my take on her.
in my own style of course.
i enjoyed challenging myself with painting a master’s painting.
you may ask yourself, who do i think i am?
and i would reply,
someone trying to improve my craft by
imitating someone far superior to me.

i want to be a resting place.
i want to be the oil.
i want my life to be a dwelling place.
i want my life set apart for more.

it is sacred to take your life
and make it something refined
to constrain myself for something bigger.

i revere this place of reservoir.
building up a reserve for use in the understanding of togetherness.

I have painted, written poetry, made new products from my art in 2022.

What will my art adventure be in 2023?

i have come to a stoppage
in my wretched broken soul,
that i shall have no more of
pride that renders me stuck to whims.
whims, opinions, and shortsightedness of
those less given over to creative endeavors.
i will give place to dreams, thoughts
that provoke difference of stance
within the realms of artistry.
ingenuity is my creative super power,
as i have seen a great lack of it.
i allow my imagination the freedom
for enterprising my thoughts to unfold
on paper and canvas at will.
i love the power of the pen to alert
new perspectives to listening ears.
i love the power of the brush upon
which conception happens with a stroke.
strokes that no one has ever put down before,
thoughts that have never inspired
this frame of reference
before this very moment.
my notions are mine and specific to me.
they are lush and ripe with possiblites.

An eden to inhabit.

I revere our earth.
